What should you look for in an old folks home or senior care centre in Singapore?
Start with your family member’s needs. A person who needs help bathing and eating needs different care from one who just wants company during the day.
Look for regular social activities, friendly staff and clear care plans. Ask about medication management and care for chronic conditions such as dementia or stroke.
Ask for a tour, and ask what the monthly bill includes. Subsidies depend on your household income, so request a quote in writing.
