How to choose a good tuition centre in Singapore

  • Check MOE registration. Centres teaching 10 or more students must register with MOE as a private school.
  • Ask about class size. Small groups of 4 to 8 give the tutor time for each child.
  • Match the subject and level. Some centres cover every subject. Others focus only on English, maths or science.
  • Try a trial class. Most centres below offer a paid or free trial lesson.
  • Compare fees per month. Ask what is included, such as materials, registration fees and deposits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tuition centre is most recommended in Singapore?

It depends on your child’s level and subject. For all-round primary and secondary tuition, look at AGrader, EduFirst, Mavis, The Learning Lab and Mind Stretcher. For maths or science, Debbie’s Learning Cove, SmartLab and Path Finder are specialists.

How do I choose a good tuition centre?

Check that the centre is registered with MOE and teaches your child’s syllabus. Ask about class size, tutor experience and fees per month. Book a trial lesson before you commit.

Is my tuition centre required to be MOE registered?

Yes, if it teaches 10 or more students. Under the Education Act, such centres must register the school, its courses and its teachers with MOE.

What is the difference between a tuition centre and a tuition agency?

A tuition centre runs group classes at its own premises. A tuition agency, such as Tutor City, SmileTutor or Tuition Centre SG, matches you with a private tutor. The tutor teaches at your home or online.

How much does a tuition centre cost in Singapore in 2026?

A 2026 fee guide puts neighbourhood centres at about $200 to $350 a month for P1–P4. Sec 3–4 is about $320 to $480 a month. Premium chains like The Learning Lab charge more. Always check current fees with the centre.

Which is the best tuition centre in Woodlands?

Centres with Woodlands or Admiralty branches include EduZ Tuition, AGrader (Admiralty), Edufront, SmartLab and LCentral. Visit each centre’s website for the exact address and timetable.

Are smaller tuition classes better for my child?

Usually, yes. Small groups of 4 to 8 let the tutor spot gaps and give feedback. Larger classes can still work for confident students who mainly need exam practice.
