The best interior designer in Singapore depends on your home and budget. For HDB flats, look at Design 4 Space, The Interior Lab or SG Interior Design. Each has hundreds of Qanvast reviews. For award-winning condo work, Artistroom and Ovon Design stand out. For luxury and high-end homes, Elliot James and EightyTwo work at the top of the market. Below we compare 17 firms with addresses, accreditations, typical spend and what homeowners say. Everything was re-checked on 6 October 2026.

What’s changed in 2026

  • Qanvast’s 2026 data puts a typical 4-room BTO renovation at S$50,000–60,000, and a 4-room resale flat at S$70,000–81,600.
  • Condo renovation costs rose about 3–5% on 2025, driven by labour, materials and more curved carpentry.
  • Renovation remains one of Singapore’s most complained-about industries. CASE received 962 renovation complaints in 2024, and 97% were against firms without CaseTrust accreditation.
  • Several firms collapsed or vanished with deposits in late 2025, including Axion Design, which was investigated by police. Checking accreditation matters more than ever.
  • We added five firms with strong 2026 track records: Ovon Design, Urban Home Design, Starry Homestead, Space Atelier and EightyTwo.

How much does interior design cost in Singapore (2026)?

Most Singapore homeowners pay one bundled price for design and renovation works. The figures below are typical total renovation costs, not design fees alone.

Property type Typical renovation cost (SGD, 2026)
3-room BTO S$40,800 – S$52,500
4-room BTO S$50,000 – S$60,000
5-room BTO S$60,600 – S$76,500
3-room resale HDB S$55,000 – S$68,300
4-room resale HDB S$70,000 – S$81,600
5-room resale HDB S$80,800 – S$98,900
New condo S$44,290 – S$62,160
Resale condo S$78,280 – S$105,000
Terrace house (full renovation) S$150,000 – S$300,000
Semi-detached house S$150,000 – S$450,000
Bungalow S$250,000 – S$700,000+

HDB and condo figures come from Qanvast’s 2026 cost guides, based on 2025 medians from over 1,000 projects. Landed figures come from HomeMatch’s landed renovation guide. Resale homes cost more because they usually need hacking, re-plumbing and rewiring.

How interior designers charge

  • Bundled design and build. The most common model for HDB and condo. The design fee is folded into the renovation quote.
  • Design-only fee. Roughly S$1,500 to S$15,000 for design work without construction, according to Honeycombers’ 2026 guide.
  • Percentage of project. Some firms charge about 3–10% of the project cost.
  • “Free design” packages. The design cost is recovered through markups on carpentry and materials. Compare line items, not just totals.

Budget 10–20% on top for contingencies, especially for resale and landed homes. Loose furniture, appliances and lighting are often extra.

What drives the price up

  • Carpentry, which is usually the largest single line item. Curved and full-height pieces cost more.
  • Hacking and re-tiling, common in resale flats.
  • Electrical rewiring and plumbing changes.
  • Premium finishes such as sintered stone, large-format tiles and fluted panels.

How we chose

We did not visit these firms’ showrooms or renovate with them for this guide. This list is based on desk research done on 6 October 2026. For each firm we checked:

  • Still operating. The website loads, shows recent projects, and the company is live in business registry records where we could find them.
  • Accreditation. CaseTrust accreditation and HDB registration, as claimed on the firm’s site or shown on its Qanvast profile. We could not access the official CaseTrust or HDB directories, so verify these yourself before signing.
  • Reviews. Rating and review count on Qanvast and Hometrust, plus forum threads on HardwareZone and RenoTalk. We quote only ratings we saw ourselves, and we say where.
  • Track record. Years in business, notable projects and design awards.
  • Typical spend. Minimum budgets and average project costs from Qanvast profiles.

Some listings on SingaReviews are paid placements. Payment affects where a firm appears, not what we write. We include known complaints where we found them.

Which interior designer should you choose?

  • New BTO on a firm budget: Starry Homestead, Space Atelier or SG Interior Design. All are CaseTrust accredited with Qanvast minimums around S$30,000.
  • Resale HDB needing hacking and rewiring: Design 4 Space or The Interior Lab, both with A&A experience and in-house carpentry.
  • Condo with a tricky layout: Artistroom or Ovon Design.
  • Award-winning design: Urban Home Design, Artistroom, Ovon Design or Earth Interior Design.
  • Luxury or high-end home: Elliot James or EightyTwo.
  • Maximum deposit protection: Weiken.com or Starry Homestead, both with CaseTrust Gold.
  • Home plus office or shop: Home Guide or The Interior Place.

Get at least three quotes on the same floor plan and scope. Compare line by line, especially carpentry lengths and tile areas.

Red flags to watch for

  • A deposit above 20%. CaseTrust-accredited firms cap the deposit at 20% of the contract value. The deposit is covered by a performance bond if the firm folds.
  • No CaseTrust accreditation. In 2024, 97% of renovation complaints to CASE were about firms without it. All complaints against accredited firms were resolved.
  • Payments into a personal bank account. Always pay the company. In a 2025 case, a designer took about S$48,000 into his own account.
  • Not on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors. HDB requires homeowners to use DRC-listed contractors. The contractor applies for the renovation permit for you.
  • Starting work without an HDB permit. Wall demolition and many other works need HDB approval first.
  • Hacking bathroom tiles in a new BTO. HDB does not allow removal of bathroom wall and floor finishes in the first three years.
  • Noisy works on weekends. HDB limits hacking and drilling to weekdays, 9am to 5pm. A firm that promises weekend hacking is breaking the rules.
  • Progress payments far ahead of progress. The CaseTrust bond only covers the deposit. Tie later payments to finished stages.
  • A vague quote. Every item should show material, size and quantity. “Carpentry – lump sum” is not enough.
  • A firm found only on social media or marketplaces. A December 2025 case involved a Carousell-sourced firm that took over S$80,000 and disappeared.
  • No warranty in writing. The CaseTrust standard contract includes a 12-month workmanship warranty. Some firms offer longer.

Who are the best interior designers in Singapore?

For HDB homes, Design 4 Space, The Interior Lab, Starry Homestead and SG Interior Design have the strongest review records. For award-winning design, look at Urban Home Design, Artistroom and Ovon Design. For luxury homes, consider Elliot James and EightyTwo.

Which are the best luxury and high-end interior designers in Singapore?

Elliot James and EightyTwo work mainly on luxury homes, hospitality and workplaces. Both have international portfolios and design awards. Expect quote-only pricing well above typical HDB budgets.

Which interior design firms in Singapore have won awards?

Urban Home Design won an iF Design Award in 2025. Artistroom won a K-Design Award in 2026. Ovon Design won Gold in Home & Decor’s Top of the Class 2025. Earth Interior Design reports two German Design Awards in 2025.

What is the difference between an interior designer and a renovation contractor?

An interior designer plans the layout, style and materials, then manages the build. A contractor carries out the works. Most Singapore ID firms do both. For HDB flats, whoever does the works must be on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors.

How do I check if an interior designer is HDB-registered or CaseTrust accredited?

Search the firm on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors on the HDB website. Check CaseTrust status on the CASE website. Do not rely only on badges on the firm’s own site.

What is bespoke interior design?

Bespoke design means the layout, carpentry and furniture are made for your home rather than chosen from a package. It usually costs more and takes longer. Studios such as Artistroom, Ovon Design and Elliot James focus on this kind of work.

How long does a home renovation take in Singapore?

A BTO renovation usually takes about two to three months once the permit is approved. Resale flats and condos with hacking often take three to four months. SG Interior Design’s published examples ran 12 to 15 weeks.

Is a free interior design consultation worth it?

Yes, as a way to compare firms. Bring your floor plan, budget and must-haves. Be aware that “free design” is often paid for through markups on carpentry and materials.

How much deposit should I pay an interior designer?

No more than 20% of the contract value, which is the cap for CaseTrust-accredited firms. Pay later instalments only as each stage is completed, and always pay the company, not an individual.
